So here's an oddball question: why is it that for online (or even offline) dating services, women seem to get an avalanche of replies? while men, to put it mildly, don't? Not angsting about this, just this thought struck me and I was wondering about it! Anyone have any input as to why this is?

couldn't tell you, unfortunately. I know I've seen similar, however.

It could be a ratio thing, maybe? If there's 10 guys for every 1 girl that uses the service.. that'd certainly skew the numbers.

That would make sense, I guess; though the ratio of male to female has been narrowing over time?

Because women looking for guys usually do so in person? I'm generalizing, but a photo with a short profile doesn't tell most women what they want to know about a guy.

This sounds promising to me. I'll also generalize to say that girls are more social than guys, so there are probably more guys looking online (so I agree with the ratio thing too)

Or maybe it's an 'online guy' thing, vice a 'guy' thing in general?

Hmm, that would seem to make online dating mostly a 'guy' thing, then?
