Weekendish Update
Jun. 19th, 2006 10:25 pmSomewhere along the weekend I picked up what I hope is a heat rash. Beyond that, though, the weekend went well.
A friend came up from Maryland to visit, and we had quite a good time. On Thursday we went up to Moresca, which is a costuming store in New Paltz and is insanely great. They've got a medieval/renaissance catering hall there called 'Thunderwyrm Inn' (mostly because it's right next to the Amtrak Northeast line.) It'd be a perfect place for a handfasting or a wedding if you were going for a renfaire-theme. And I managed to take some pictures!
For starters, Moresca has these two awesome signs. When entering, we saw:

And coming out of there, we saw:

<3 This sign has just made my millenium. =)
Also, we went looking for a place called Rivendell Winery. Alas, though, Rivendell is elusive, and despite our urge to knock on the doors to the New Paltz Chamber of Commerce and intone, "We seek Rivendell!" we were unable to find it. What we did find, though, was this:

This is Skytop Tower, which is on the grounds of Mohonk Mountain Resort. It is the highest point of New York State and it commands an insanely grand view of the Catskills.
Not much else to report for now. Work is... work. I'm coping so far. More later. Pax.
