I'm not a huge fan of WizKids, the guys who came up with the HeroClix mechanic. It's an interesting concept, mind you. But the whole concept of 'Collectable (Whatever) Games' irks me somewhat. Maybe I'm just bitter because I watched CCGs decimate the RPG industry. Oh, well.
All that being said, I do have to give them kudos for this bit of meeble they have on their site: Rocketmen: The Series. Basedon their 'collectable construction game' (whatever the heck that is) the animation and voice acting is actually pretty good, and it's at least a tip of the hat to the old space opera serials. Some obvious space opera cliches, matched by some reasonably good writing. (Not Hugo-grade, mind you, but not atrocious. The good voice acting soothe whatever hackles might rise from bits of poor writing.) For short 3-minute vignettes, they do pack a lot of story into them. And from a technical perspective, the animation is done quite well. I actually suspect that the animation was done in Flash.
Anyway, take a peek, hpefully enjoy, or pan it if you wish. ^^ Pax!
