Things Jon Learned Today:

It is only through facing the instant and immediate consequences of their actions that people learn that they cannot do just anything they want, to whomever they want, whenever they want.

If your child's "entire Christmas is ruined" because $TOY does not work as soon as they open the box, then might I respectfully suggest that you have greater issues at stake than throwing a tantrum at random retail people in order to get a replacement $TOY.

If you must take some sort of medications for a known medical condition, either psychological or physiological, [edit: in order to keep you sane and safe in common society] then take the gorramn meds before a court orders you to take them and you have a dozen guys in red shirts who want to kick your teeth in as soon as look at you.

Wow, you're much more polite than I. If I heard some kid's C-mas was ruined simply because the adults didn't know how to make a toy work, I'd be inclined to ask them why they didn't a) learn how to use the toy before giving it to the child, and b) teach their kid a bit of patience?! Jeebus, folks, time to grow up. ;->

Unfortunately, we can't say anything even remotely snippish or which can be interpreted as snippish. Employees of $STORE have been fired for even politely suggesting that a customer get their keister in order.

True, it's an entirely different mask when one is the employee. *cough* I love self-employment sometimes. ;)

Retail customers, why I prefered being armed and driving a steel and kevlar box all over the bay area.

It happens at all levels, not just retail - but I think it's just a continued indication that a majority of people in the world take no responsibility (personal or social).

Of course, that's just my opinion.
