caraigA lot of computer-related things are going wrong lately, which is adding to my nervousness. I'm starting to feel like someone's pointing a Chaos Weapon at me. And being on the wrong end of a fifteen-kilometer-long gun that Makes Bad Things Happen is not pleasant!
QX, that's just inherent paranoia. ^^ I've been having pretty good luck all in all with things of late so it's bound to happen that I get a spot of bad luck, at least for a little bit.
First, my PC is still down. Anyone happen to have a BartPE boot disk on hand? Apparently this is something which I can use to repair a potential oddball registry error which is causing WinXP to load up, get to the logon screen, but is not letting me select any account to log on to. I really don't want to take this to Geek Squad since... well, that's a lot of money. Supposedly, at least according to this here thread in MS's discussion forums (holy smokes, that's an ugly URL) there's a minor registry error that needs to be fixed. Somehow. And it can't be fixed from the recovery console. Being locked into a GUI makes me feel SOOOOO comfortable. Not. (As an aside, did you know that you can boot a Mac into a UNIX prompt? S'truth!)
Second, I got a Java runtime error on my cell phone of all things. Insanity! Madness! They're coming to take me away!
Third... Pages is not nearly as intuitive as it could be. I suppose it does most of what I want OpenOffice to do, but truth be told, OO just works and I'm more used to it. Admittedly, Pages does page layout much better. Oh, well.
Fourth (!)... I've gotten the first oddball program error on my Mac. 'An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled.' Is... is this good? or bad? It must be bad, because the program isn't working, but... but... exception was not handled... I don't know... *BOOM* This would not be much of an issue if this wasn't a program -- Mike's Thumbnailer -- that I didn't occasionally like to use.

Anyway... not much else. Things Are Brewing at $STORE and I don't mean Black Friday, though that's part of it, certainly. Gonna be a long week, which works for me just fine when paid by the hour. =D
