Mississippi Libraries have something against "America (The Book.)"

And for some reason, I don't think it's for the stated reason.

"We're not an adult bookstore. Our entire collection is open to the entire public," Willits said. "If they had published the book without that one picture, that one page, we'd have the book."

Wal-Mart has declined to stock the book because of the page, which features the faces of the nine Supreme Court justices superimposed over naked bodies.

The facing page has cutouts of the justices' robes, complete with a caption asking readers to "restore their dignity by matching each justice with his or her respective robe."

Right. Perfectly understandable. I'm sure (as others such as

gridlore have pointed out) that this library is so Puritanly proper as to not have Grey's Anatomy, books of Renaissance statuary, or anything even remotely racy in the stacks. There have been even more graphic books in libraries before, this is utterly tame in comparison. I don't know, maybe the guy is trying to score brownie points with the GOP?

Then again, this is a culture that has no problem with depicting and promoting rampant and graphic violence but can't seem to handle even a nipple showing on a statue behind the Attorney-General. (EX-Attorney-General, I should say, fortunately.)

Anyway, enough snarky (for me) commentary. This is just a tiny little part of Mississippi and is just going to give more publicity for the book. Don't these people learn? Pax.

EDIT: And just because I'm feeling extra-snarky today! I found a link to Bill O'Reily's Those Who Trespass which had this excerpt form a reader's review review:

If you know anything about O'Reilly's career, you'll recognize parts of this book as being almost autobiographical. Only unlike real life, he gets to kill people off here.

So, like the Left Behind series, this book (which has as it's main character "Tommy O'Malley," hmmm... about as subtle as a sledge to the head, neh?) is a Mary Sue that's actually been professionally published? Is it even a Mary Sue if it's not a fanfic? Can we still refer to him as Bill "Marysue" O'Reily? ^^
