Snippet of Fiction
May. 23rd, 2005 12:33 amSo, yes, I saw Episode IV, and I'll spare you any commentary or spoilers. In short: Pacing was frentic for most of the film, some of the characters' actions gave me "WTF?!" moments, Hayden Christiansen shouldn't be allowed near any romantic roles ever again, and the quallity of George Lucas's writing is execrable. Or something like that; this movie desperately needed a 'common sense' scrubbing in several places. Other than that, I kind of liked it and didn't feel that my time and money was wasted.
To be honest, I saw the last 5 episodes of Clone Wars the night before. Frankly:
All that being said... yeah, I kinda liked it. I guess in part because I wasn't expecting great cinema, just a melodramatic (in the good sense) space opera yarn.
So! I hacked this up back in my college years and ran into it yesterday, and I thought i would type it in and give you-all a look for comments and critiques. Like a lot of my writing in the past, it was going to be expanded into Something Larger but I don't think I was very serious about this one. Clicky here if you're interested.
Pax.

- Episode 1 should never have been made;
- Episode 2 should have been Episode 1;
- Clone Wars should have been Episode 2.

Date: 2005-05-23 04:53 am (UTC)For Phantom Menace, I was one of the 'camping for a few hours beforehand' crowd at the local theater (we didn't have anyone camping for longer then that, the 'multi-day/week/month camping for tickets' thing just doesn't seem to happen over here) and while that was fun ... the magic is gone now.
It's not 'OMG, Star Wars' anymore, now it's just another movie.
Lord of the Rings? That I was joining a group that did a few hours camping ot get a good seat for ... the new Serenity Movie coming out, that I might do the same for ... but Star Wars? No, not anymore.
The magic has gone.
