The Zen of ATX....
Jan. 17th, 2005 02:47 pmTypically, problems for me tend to be solved and then result in another series of issues.
First off, Mom is in rehab and today she starts the full rehabilitation program. She's been kind of ... well, loopy, the past few days, and part of that was because of the pain medication they were giving her. Previcid, I think it was, some kind of narcotic on the order of morphine. Radiation adores her, but pain medications knock her for a total loop. We're trying to have hope that she'll regain the clarity of mind and quality of life she had prior to Christmas. I'm personally hoping that this isn't presageing further problems coming up.
As for the PC... well, there's this little thing on the board that is a four-pin 12V power plug for CPU Vcore. I've never used it before on any computer I've ever had. Apparently, the Intel P4 Prescott kind of needs it. Badly. So after plugging it in, it seems to work just fine now. Ah, but this is ME we're talking about! Nothing is ever quite so simple. Put simply, WIndows fails to boot now. It stops at Windows/System32/drivers/Mup.sys and tries to go on to the next stage of the boot process and simply fails. I don't really have the installation disks available, they're lost somewhere in the mass of boxes which I still haven't unpacked from being in Florida. Anyone have any suggestions, please?
Anyway. Other than PC miseries, things are going all right. Mostly I just really, really, really hope that Mom's condition doesn't worsen or something of that nature.
