My apologies to folks who have posted new LJ entries that I haven't really replied to yet; this schedule I'm on has been a wee bit rough as far as time goes. Basicallly I'm going into school (or trying to) at 1AM and getting home at 1PM. I'm behind on my work schedule and I'm trying to catch up. As it turns out, I have now officially rebuilt the entire model from scratch. I had to re-build the blouse today after the original proved to be an nightmare when bound to the skeleton. The new one is, well, a little better, at least. My goal is to still have the animation set up by Saturday afternoon at the milestone, in something callled a 'playblast' (which is pretty much the entire animation played through without rendering or even shading outside of the most basic.) Of course, having to rebuild the torso took up 8 hours today. (I'm still surprised I actually managed to pull that off!)
Tomorrow I'm going in at 5AM, and at 1PM a bunch of us are going to go see Matix Reloaded. We should be able to get tickets, the Winter Park Regal 20 is only showing it on, oh, five screens. We're curious about the visual effects shot that they're saying nobody will be able to copy anytime soon.
I'm going to miss things like this, I've realized. Going to see a movie with other students and afterwards talking about hings like the animation, the visual effects shots, the special effects. All in all except for a few things I've had a good time here and I'm a little sad it's ending, but I'm looking forward to getting back to work. Hopefully I can find a job in a place with other animators/modellers where we could do stuff like go to a movie as a group after work or on a weekend and such. I never really felt like I could do that in the Coast Guard (which has its own social traditions which were, apparently, kind of lacking where I was stationed) or in my IT jobs (which was pretty much mitigated by the fact that more often than not, I was the only guy in the shop; when I wasn't, for the most part I just wanted to get out of there and get home and there wasnt much time left in the day, after a 10-hour workday and 3 hours commuting (both ways) to do much. Well, that's partly why I'm down here in Meltdown, USA.
Anyway, it's back to sleep for me, so I can be nice and rested for lab tomorrow!
