You think you leave behind the idiocy and immaturity of high school when you graduate. Well, as most of us know, it continues on to college, sometimes even especially military college. And for some folks out there, it never really ends. Like the guy today who needed to express his masculinity in compensation for his beergut, by calling myself and the staff of $STORE 'nerds.' Alas. For if he's lucky his daughters won't grow up thinking that his foolishness is male norm and thus get involved with a bunch of beerheads in college. Sometimes I despair of certain members of my gender, sometimes I despair of the entire human race.

Today started good. Normally Sundays are a little busy but we were on top of it. Up until about 1330, at which point, I'm reasonably certain, a supervillain named Dr. Baden von Nasty released a container of Asshole Gas into the air of the mall. Because from that point on it was just one nasty customer after another and damned if I know why we got so many of them on such a lovely day.

I am seriously considering breaking my usual rule against going into Manhattan to make a trek there Wednesday to Houston Street, to see Night Watch. It looks like one seriously kickbutt horror film, and not in the typical European/American tradition, or in the scare-the-scrap-out-of-Jon Japanese modes. I've heard some extremely good things about it, but unfortunately only this one indie theater is showing it within anything remotely resembling reasonable distance from home. I'll have to see, because this is an incredibly good-looking film, and it seems to deserve attention. A Scanner Darkly also looks cool from a technical standpoint but I'm going to wait on it; Hollywood has a habit of butchering anything by Phillip K. Dick by way of the Brazil Effect.

Not much else now. Going to head back into Oblivion. It's a seriously engrossing game mostly because of the huge amount of things you can do. But first, a little nosh. Pax!
